Sinchu Wuri – Water, Fence & Milling Machine

In December 2019, Cornwall-based charity, Kitchen Table, donated funds to enable us to undertake an ambitious project at Sinchu Wurri School:

  1. Supply and set up a milling machine in the village, which will be run by the Mothers’ Club. All profits made by the club will go towards school for uniforms for the poorer children and providing school meals, which presently consist solely of rice.

  2. To repair 60 school desks and tables.

  3. To dig and install a hand-pump operated well at the school.

  4. To provide fencing for the school garden, allowing them to grow vegetables for school meals. In addition, the fence will help to keep animals out of the school.

  5. To provide the school with basic equipment and teaching aids.

Due to the completion of the well, another charity working in the area was able to begin building classrooms at the school which had been on hold due to lack of water.

Stuart, Sue and Howard had planned to visit the school and celebrate the completion of the well, desk repair and the arrival of the milling machine, however… due to the outbreak of Coronavirus all flights were cancelled.

Kebba ,our representative, is a frequent visitor to Sinchu Wurri, checking the progress of the projects and sending us photos. As soon as it’s, possible we’ll be visiting Gambia and completing the rest of the project!

THANK YOU, KITCHEN TABLE
